Below you will find the titles of the RNClasses/RNCounsels being taught and who is teaching them, as well as each presenter’s career information and accomplishments; if they are bestsellers, award-winners, when they were first published, how many books they have out, their website, amazon, Facebook and blog links, and other presentations they’ve given; when, where and on what subjects. This additional information will help attendees decide which classes they feel are best for them to attend… Wait, it gets better… 

– The RNClasses/RNCounsels are not spread out all over the hotel, or on different floors, wings or towers.
– All RNClasses/RNCounsels are in one convention hall with nothing else but 2 sets of M&F bathrooms.
– Entry to the convention hall is by a wide, one-story staircase, along with two elevators next to it.
– Those two convention hall elevators are only accessible from the tower hotel-staying attendees are in.
– Walking from one end of the convention hall to the other end will only take you about 1 minute.
– There are 6 classrooms (850-3450 sq ft), RNCentral (registration room), RNCostumes & RNC Bingo rooms.
– The main events/ballroom has a very large grand foyer; so there wont be a problem meeting new friends.
– There will be beverages & snacks available throughout the convention hall provided for you by RNC.
– The hotel has 2 of their own Starbucks; one being at the bottom of the convention hall staircase.
 

All RNClasses & RNCounsels will be on Thu & Fri. All the evening main events will be from 7pm-10pm. Since hotel check-in on Wednesday isn’t until 3pm, and since some will be arriving late Wednesday, having classes that day wouldn’t give presenters the audience they deserve. So Wednesday is…

From analyzing over $12 million in sales for a collection of 120,000 Smashwords ebooks from May 1, 2012 through March 31, 2013. We aggregated our sales data from across our retail distribution network, which includes the Apple iBookstore, Barnes & Noble, Sony, Kobo and Amazon (only about 200 of our 200,000 titles are at Amazon). As the world’s largest indie ebook distributor, I think our study represents the most comprehensive analysis ever of how ebooks from self-published authors and small independent presses are behaving in the marketplace. 

This survey attempts to identify Viral Catalysts by analyzing the common characteristics of bestselling (and poor-selling) Smashwords ebooks. We posed a series of questions to our data – including several new ones – to reveal answers that might help authors reach more readers. 

Do frequent price changes help authors sell more books?
Do longer or shorter book titles sell more books?

My story will inspire you to see past the roadblocks and hold onto the fun of writing. You can survive rejection, criticism and not knowing how to do everything perfectly from the very beginning. The one thing that my books are noted for are my unique immortals whom I created myself, and supposedly there are no other like them. I took special care into creating these ”creatures” as such so they would stand up. 

I did a lot of research on lore and other creatures to get them honed in just right. I believe that although some readers prefer traditional paranormal creatures, there are many that are simply tired of them and that is when an imaginative and well-researched author can change the entire genre.

Often overlooked or considered is the depth gone into a great novel cover. Let us enlighten, bedazzle, surprise and outright shock you, while we each detail our roles in the creation of the custom made cover of LaVerne Thompson’s “Dragon’s Heart”… 

LaVerne will discuss her writing and inspiration of her characters, to the direction she wanted to go with for her novel cover, and choosing the process of hiring RNC’s own Jimmy Thomas, to get her cover-vision brought to life. 

Jimmy will then detail all the aspects of his custom cover shoot, from his full thought-process and how he translated the vision given to him into a live-form, to working with his Photographer, Bruce Heinsius, as they work together to get just the right feeling, emotion and look needed to pull-off an amazing cover image that will bring her character and novel to life. 

With decades of professional photography experience, Bruce will describe how those feelings, emotions, and that right look is made with lighting, lighting and more lighting. From key light, hair light, rim light and back light, to reflectors, bounce cards, umbrellas and snoots, learn that it is not just about a subject to shoot and a camera to shoot it with, but rather the attitude, the three-dimensional projection, and the surreal life-like capture that all the shadows and lighting create, that dramatically enhance those feelings, emotions and needed look. 

As the production shifts back to Jimmy, he will take you for a ride into his head, as he goes through the hundreds of images taken, to pinpoint the best of the best, and what makes them better than the others, then see through his experienced eyes what he sees as for what to clean, edit and where to crop, which concludes with the final image, for cover artist Fiona Jayde to work her incredible magic on. 

Being hand-selected, highly-suggested, and referred to LaVerne by Jimmy, as he knows her style and what genre covers she really shines in, Fiona is now the director of Laverne’s movie put into the form of a novel. Once Fiona was given descriptions and details by Laverne, she combined just the right colors, cover art, additional features and just the right font, to send it to Jimmy for his keen eye-for-detail, followed by a response from Jimmy of “It just blew me away!” With only two small adjustments to meet Jimmy’s perfectionist quality-check, off to LaVerne it went.

After several years as the computer training coordinator for the Washington State Legislature, Jami has spent the last decade coordinating IT for the Washington State Senate, managing projects, and assisting in the design and implementation of many of the Legislature’s in-house and public-facing applications. Her challenging day job often turns into a night & weekend job during the Legislative session.
